Symptoms

When you open a Web page that contains a Microsoft Office PivotTable list, you are prompted for a user name and password.

Cause

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You published the PivotTable list using a PivotTable stored on a Microsoft Excel worksheet.

    -and-

  • To build the Excel PivotTable, you connected to an external database that requires a password.
When you publish a PivotTable list, Excel does not save passwords in the HTML files that it creates.
