You cannot use Convert Schema or Migrate data options for objects created in System schema in SSMA


Symptoms

If you create tables and other objects under Oracle's System schema, you are not able to migrate these objects to SQL Server using either Convert Schema or Migrate Data options in SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle. These two options are grayed out for System schema.

Cause

This behavior is by design. SSMA considers all the objects in SYS and SYSTEM schemas as system objects. SSMA does not migrate any objects that are considered as System objects.

Resolution

Create objects in another schema and the use SSMA to migrate those objects to SQL Server.
