Network printers reappear after profile deletion

Symptoms

On a Windows 7 client computer, the previous network printer connection may still show after deleting and recreating the user profile. If the user attempts to access the network printer, the following error may be shown:

"Operation could not be completed (error
0x00000709). Double check the printer
name and make sure that the printer is
connected to the network."

Cause

The Spooler service stores network printer information within it's own memory structures. This cached information is not cleared when a user profile is deleted.

Resolution

You can work around this issue by either restarting the Windows 7 client machine, or stopping and restarting the spooler service before the new profile is created.
