Display quality of GDI+ applications via Remote Desktop

Summary

When using a Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) connection, clients may see visual degradation in certain applications that use GDI+.

This occurs because in the case of GDI+ applications, dithering is used in lieue of alpha blending for transparency effects. This should only occur over Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections.

More Information

This applies to all versions of the Windows Operating System when a GDI+ application is viewed via Remote Desktop. Due to potential performance issues when rendering transparency over RDP, this is by design.
