After you install this update, you have to create a registry subkey to enable the UDP notifications support feature. To have us enable the UDP notifications support feature for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. If you prefer to enable the UDP notifications support feature yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.
To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix this problem link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in this wizard.
Note This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
Note If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD so that you can run it on the computer that has the problem.
Create the following registry subkey to enable the UDP notifications support feature:
Subkey location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeRPC\ParametersSystem
Subkey name: EnablePushNotifications
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
Note If this registry key does not exist, or if its value is set to 0, the UDP notification support feature is not enabled.
Workaround
To work around this issue, use the cached exchange mode in Outlook 2003. To do this, follow these steps: - Exit Outlook 2003 if it is running.
- In Control Panel, click Mail.
- Click E-mail Accounts.
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
- Type a Microsoft Exchange Server account, and then click Change.
- Select the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
- Start Outlook 2003.
