If you use Terminal Services with the printers option selected to connect to a Windows Server 2008 R2, it may log error TerminalServices-Printers 1111.


Symptoms

When using the Terminal Services client with the printers option selected to connect to a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, it may log an error TerminalServices-Printers error 1111 in the System Event logs.

Driver PRINTERDRIVER required for printer PRINTERNAME is unknown.  Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in again.

Cause

  This error is being logged on the Server because the Server does not have a matching driver on the local machine for the Terminal Services session.    If there is a matching driver, this error does not happen.

Resolution

Install a printer on the local client that has a matching driver on the Server.  If there is a matching driver on both the server and the client, this error will not be logged.
