ACC2000: Standard Toolbar Not Available in Microsoft Access

Symptoms

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

In the Customize dialog box, the option Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row on the Options tab is dimmed. This option is never selectable because Access does not have a Standard toolbar.

Cause

Microsoft Access shares the toolbar Customize dialog box with the other components of Microsoft Office and, because the option does not apply to Access, it is dimmed. The standard toolbar in Access is called the Database toolbar.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize.
  2. In the Customize dialog box, click the Options tab.
  3. Note that the first check box caption reads Standard and Formattting toolbars share one row.
  4. Click the Toolbars tab.
  5. Note that the list of toolbars does not include Standard.
