Symptoms

When you create a hyperlink in a shared border, the hyperlink does not appear in Hyperlinks view or in Reports view.

Cause

This behavior occurs because shared borders are stored in four files that are located in the _borders folder, which is a hidden folder. The four files include the following:
  • Top.htm
  • Bottom.htm
  • Left.htm
  • Right.htm
By default, hidden files or folders do not appear in FrontPage.

Resolution

To view the files that are stored in hidden folders, follow these steps:
  1. Open a web in FrontPage.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click to select the Show documents in hidden directories check box, and then click OK.
  5. Click Yes when you are prompted to refresh the web.
You can now view hyperlinks in shared border files when you use Hyperlinks view or Reports view.
