To configure Internet Explorer to work with AOL as your ISP:
- If Internet Explorer is not already installed, download it from the following Microsoft Web site and install it:
- Install the America Online software. AOL is available on CD-ROM and from the following AOL Web site:

- With Internet Explorer 4.x and Windows 98:
- Click Connect to the Internet using a local area network.
- Click to clear the Access the Internet using a proxy server check box, and then click OK.
NOTE: With AOL 4.0, you may need to enable the Access the Internet using a proxy server option; click Advanced, click to clear the Use same proxy server for all protocols check box, clear the contents of all of the boxes under Servers, and then click OK. When you are prompted to turn off the proxy connection, click No.
- : With AOL 4.0, you may need to enable the With Internet Explorer 3.02:
- Click to clear the Connect through a proxy server check box.
- Click OK.
