The splash screen stays open longer than usual when you try to start Excel on a computer that has the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed

Symptoms

You install and then enable the PowerPivot for Excel add-in on a computer that has the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack (SP) 1 or .NET Framework 2.0 SP 2 installed. When you try to start Microsoft Excel, the splash screen intermittently stays open longer than usual when the following content is displayed:


Note<x> represents the number that represents the order in which PowerPivot is displayed among the Excel add-ins. <y> represents the total number of add-ins in Excel.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
