Programs that request lots of contiguous memory may fail after you install security update 921883 (MS06-040) on a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1-based computer or a Windows XP Professional x64 Edition-based computer

Programs that request lots of contiguous memory, such as one gigabyte or more, may fail with an unexpected error after you install security update 921883 on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. For example, programs such as Microsoft Business Solutions - Navision 3.7 may fail.

Note This problem only affects 32-bit programs. These 32-bit programs may run on computers that have any of the following operating systems installed:

• A 32-bit version of Windows Server 2003 with SP1
• Windows Server 2003 with SP1 for Itanium-based systems
• x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003
• Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Native 64-bit programs are not affected.
