Keyboard events aren't received from an external process when you use the addEventListener method in Internet Explorer 11 Edge mode

Symptoms

The attachEvent method is no longer supported in the Edge mode of Internet Explorer 11. Therefore, the addEventListener method must be used instead. However, when you use this method, the external created event is no longer received by the event listener.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update. Additionally, see the technical information about the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.
