Internet Explorer 11 browser page becomes blank after you install security updates 3185330 in Windows 7 SP1 or security update 3185331 in Windows 8.1

Symptoms

After you install either of the following security updates, when you remove an iframe element that contains a PDF object on Document Object Model (DOM) in Internet Explorer 11, PDF viewer freezes and the whole browser content page gets blank.

On Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
October 2016 security monthly quality rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (KB3185330)

On Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2:
October 2016 security monthly quality rollup for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3185331)

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update. Additionally, see the technical information about the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.
