View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you have Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 R2 Cumulative Update 4 (CU4)  or BizTalk Server 2016 CU1 installed, and that you use the NCo connector to connect to an SAP instance. When you expand the IDOC category and then you select any IDOC to see the list of IDOC versions, you receive the following error message:

Error occurred while browsing the LOB system. Adapter Message: An error occurred when trying to convert byte array: [/BEV1/NEMAT /BEV1/NEMATMAS05701 ] of RFCTYPE: RFCTYPE_CHAR with length: 4 and decimals: 0 to a .Net type. The parameter/field name is: RELEASED.

Cause

The issue occurs because of a code defect in BizTalk Server 2013 R2 or 2016 CU1. If the server is non-Unicode, the byteData value is calculated as SBCS type. This generates an ArgumentOutOfRangeException.
