Event ID 56417 when the window title of combined programs exceeds 128 characters in Lync Server 2013

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You deploy Monitoring server in a Microsoft Lync Server 2013 environment.
  • User A presents a program together with user B.
  • In the same presentation session, user A presents another program.
  • The total length of the window title of the two programs is more than 128 characters.
In this scenario, the session is not saved in the Monitoring server database. Additionally, Event ID 56417 is recorded in the Lync Server log:

Cause

This issue occurs because the total length of the window title of all the presented programs exceeds the character limit of the ApplicationSharingType column in the dbo.AppSharingStream database.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the April 2016 cumulative update 5.0.8308.956 for the Lync Server 2013, core components.
