Arabic string data causes a "BasePrimitiveConverter" exception in Host Integration Server 2013

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You are running a Transaction Integrator application that passes Arabic string data to a mainframe transaction application. In certain conditions, process fails and returns an exception that resembles the following error message:

HISMPCB0001 In BasePrimitiveConverter an exception has occurred.

Exception description: Offset and length were out of bounds for the array or count is greater than the number of elements from index to the end of the source collection.'.'

This problem occurs if the string contains spaces in front of the Arabic characters, and if the number of spaces is equal to or greater than the number of actual Arabic characters. For example, the following string causes this problem:

“بتينبتينص ئ “
Note In this string, the quotation marks are included only to show the added spaces.
