Improvements and fixes

  • Adds administrative support to prevent Outlook 2013 from booting into safe mode. Administrators set this function in some scenarios when they have add-ins that must be enabled.

Note To enable this function, see update adds support for administrators to prevent Outlook 2013 from starting in safe mode (KB3054892) .
  • Improves the Facebook provider for Outlook 2013 compatibility with Outlook 2010.
  • Fixes the following issues:
    • When the server virtual context is expired in a MAPI over HTTP protocol connection, Outlook 2013 continues to send ping requests.
    • It takes a long time to recover from a disconnection on an Exchange account that uses the MAPI over HTTP protocol in Outlook 2013. Outlook 2013 sends a request again to the Exchanger server instead of reconnecting the server.
    • When you connect to a mailbox by using the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol in Outlook 2013, duplicate email items are created.

Note After you install this update, you can follow the instructions in the Registry information section to change this behavior. This registry value affects performance in Outlook 2013. Add the value only if you experience the described problem.
    • After a mailbox migration, some addition mailboxes such as shared folders, archive mailboxes, or public folders are not displayed in the navigation list in Outlook 2013.
    • It takes longer than expected to exit Outlook 2013.
    • You set up an email account in Outlook 2010, and then you connect it to a SharePoint list. However, after you upgrade to Outlook 2013, Outlook may create duplicate SharePoint folders.
    • When you try to open an email message that has an attachment in Outlook 2013, the attachment becomes blank. This issue occurs if there are many attachments in the Outlook Secure Temporary File folder.
    • Classification labels of Information Rights Management (IRM) are not displayed as expected in Outlook 2013.
    • When you use a CSV file to import tasks that have a specified reminder time in Outlook 2013, reminders are not fired.
    • When you change the permissions of a calendar in Outlook 2010, the calendar disappears.
    • When you receive an email message that has an S/MIME certificate, only the first SMTP address of the certificate in the Signed By field is displayed, even though there are SMTP addresses.
    • When you start Outlook 2013, Outlook 2013 crashes occasionally.
    • Assume that you have a mailbox in which the SMTP address does not match your Windows user principal name. When you configure an account profile on the Auto Account Setup page of the Add New Account Wizard in Outlook 2013, you are unexpectedly prompted for credentials.
    • When you send an email message that has multiple attachments in Outlook 2013, attachments are missing.
    • In configurations where many people use shared folders, members are removed from a large, shared personal distribution when you modify the contents of the distribution.
    • When you set an appointment or meeting as the Working Elsewhere status for an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) account in Outlook 2013, the appointment or meeting cannot be synchronized in Outlook Web App.
    • When you configure an Exchange account by using the MAPI over HTTP protocol in Outlook 2013, the Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange option is unavailable (appears dimmed) on the Security tab.
    • Assume that you use the MAPI over HTTP protocol to connect to an Exchange account in Outlook 2013. If the protocol is changed to the RPC protocol or the RPC over HTTP protocol, you cannot connect to archive mailboxes.
