View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use BizTalk WCF-OracleDB adapters to work with Oracle Server 11.2.0.4, you receive the following error message:

"The Messaging Engine failed to add a receive location "XXX" with URL "XXX" to the adapter "WCF-OracleDB." Reason: "System.NotSupportedException: Specified method is not supported."

Cause

This problem occurs because Oracle made a change between database versions 11.2.0.3 and 11.2.0.4 in the DATA_TYPE value for the XMLType data type in the metadata table. This change causes the BizTalk adapter to fail when it maps from Oracle types to .NET types.
