Memory leak occurs when you play mp4 files in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run an application to play an .mp4 file on a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • The application uses Microsoft Media Foundation platform.
  • You run Microsoft Application Verifier on this application.
In this scenario, Application Verifier reports that memory leaking is found in the mp4 metadata feature if the .mp4 file contains metadata.

Resolution
