Web browser icons cannot be unpinned and are displayed incorrectly on the taskbar in Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1

Symptoms

Assume that you pin a web browser that supports both desktop version and modern version to the taskbar in Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. In this situation, the web browser icon becomes incorrect, and the browser shortcut cannot be unpinned from the taskbar.

Note This issue may not occur immediately.

Resolution
