Application freezes on external touch-capable monitor on a Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run multiple applications on a Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer.
  • You connect an external touch-capable monitor to the computer when the applications are running.
In this scenario, the application stops responding to touch.

Cause

This issue occurs because a race condition occurs when initializing the touch input.

To resolve this issue, we have released update rollup 2975719 for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
