Blank icon in the Jump List after the application is updated in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install an application on a Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer.
  • You pin the application to taskbar.
  • You update the application.
In the scenario, when you right-click the application on the taskbar, the icon becomes blank in the Jump List.
