Removed nodes can access shared disk resources unexpectedly in Windows Server 2012 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a failover cluster in which nodes are running Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • You stop the cluster service on one of the cluster nodes so that the node is removed from the cluster membership.
  • At the same time, the shared disk resources are brought online to other nodes.
In this scenario, the removed cluster node can access the shared disk resources unexpectedly.

Resolution
