Bluetooth device cannot connect correctly after you turn it off and on again in Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1

This article describes an issue when you turn off and then turn on a Bluetooth device in Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1. The issue is resolved in update rollup 2955164, or in hotfix 2959148 that is described in this article and has a prerequisite.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running Windows RT 8.1 or Windows 8.1.
  • You connect a Bluetooth device (such as a Bluetooth mouse) to the computer.
  • Then you turn off the Bluetooth device or switch your computer to airplane mode.
In this scenario, the Bluetooth device cannot reconnect to the computer and cannot be used even though you turn the Bluetooth device back on or turn off airplane mode.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install update rollup 2955164, or install the hotfix that is described in this article.
