Slow screen update in application sharing or desktop sharing session in Lync 2013

Symptoms

Assume that two users sign in to Microsoft Lync 2013 in a network that has variable latency or jitter. User A starts a peer-to-peer (P2P) application sharing or desktop sharing session with user B. In this situation, the users may unexpectedly see that the screen updates slowly in the ongoing sharing. For example, the Lync 2013 client of user B may take 10 to 15 seconds to display the updated content.

Cause

This issue occurs because the encoding process for the application sharing or desktop sharing session works incorrectly.
