Desktop sharing session stops in Lync 2013 when all screen data is updated

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You sign in to Microsoft Lync 2013 on a computer that is connected to one or more monitors.
  • You start a peer to peer or multiparty desktop sharing session with another Lync user.
  • All your screen data is updated. For example, a driver crashes or restarts, or the User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears.
In this situation, the desktop sharing session stops. Additionally, if you record the session, Lync 2013 will crash.
