Symptoms

A specific Arabic string is not converted correctly from Unicode to EBCDIC 20420 Arabic when you use various components that are provided in Microsoft Host Integration Server. Instead, the string is represented by a group of question marks (?).

Note The specific string that is experiencing this problem contains the following four characters:

Cause

This problem occurs because this string is passed back as a single symbol. This causes the conversion routine not to convert the string as four single EBCDIC characters.

Cumulative update information

To resolve this problem, apply the fix that is included in Cumulative Update 1 for Host Integration Server 2013.
