Mstsc.exe crashes when you print a large document from an RDS session

Symptoms

When you print a large document from a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) session by using the Easy Print feature in Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, the Mstsc.exe process crashes.

Cause

This issue occurs because the large file size exceeds the stack limit in XML Paper Specification (XPS).

Resolution

To resolve this issue in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2, install update 2955164. For more information about update 2955164, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To resolve this issue in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, install the hotfix that is described in this article.
