INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that your user name contains an "&" character. When you add a comment in a Word document, the "&" character is missing, and the character that next to the "&" character appears underlined.
  • When you open a Word document that contains a specific font in Word 2013, Word crashes.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you open a Word document that contains one piece of visible text between two pieces of hidden text and that you set the hidden text as invisible. You select the visible text, replace it with new text, and then you set the hidden text as visible. In this situation, the new text appears outside the two pieces of hidden text instead of in-between them.
  • Word 2013 or Outlook 2013 uses more system resources than expected.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you save a Word document as a webpage. When you open the webpage in some web browsers, the appearance of the font is different than the font displayed in the Word document.
Similarly, when you create an email message in Outlook 2013, and then view the message in some web browsers, the font may appear different than the font used in the email message.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you turn on Track Changes in a document that contains fields, shapes, or pictures. You make some changes in the document. Then you save and close the document. When you reopen the document, some unexpected formatting revisions are displayed in the Revision balloon.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you use a Group Policy setting that disables the AutoCorrect does not apply Capitalized sentence setting. You open a Word document and then type a paragraph. In this situation, the first sentence of the paragraph is still capitalized.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you save a document that contains some internal links in outline view and then you save it as a PDF file. When you reopen the Word document, some additional pages are added unexpectedly, and the internal links are now incorrect. These issues also occur in the newly created PDF file.
  • In Word 2013, assume that you select a table cell and then extend this selection to another table cell by using a combination of keyboard and mouse actions. For example, you hold down the Shift key and then click another cell. In this situation, the WindowSelectionChange event is not triggered as expected.
  • In Word 2013, when you open an .rtf document that has a Ruby field within a paragraph that has the Fit Text setting turned on, an unexpected square box character appears in the text.
  • In Word 2013, rendering and performance issues occur when there are anchor graphic objects inside a repeating row of a table that spans multiple pages.
  • Assume that you have a Word document that contains a text box that is protected by an editing restriction of No changes (Read-Only). In this situation, you are able to edit the text box. However, when you copy and paste the text box, you cannot move or edit it.
  • When you try to open a document in Word 2013 that contains corrupted bookmarks, the document does not open. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Word was unable to read the document. It may be corrupt.
  • When you print a Word document that contains Syriac or Maldivian characters, the characters may be displayed incorrectly in the printout.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Word 2013, you insert a content control in a document.
    • You right-click the content control, and then you select the Content control cannot be deleted check box.
    • You insert a bookmark in the content control, and then you insert a cross-reference that refers to the bookmark.
    • You update the content in the content control, select the cross-reference and then press F9.
In this scenario, the cross-reference is not updated as expected.
  • When you group some fields in a Word 2010 document, the information about the fields do not update. For example, the grouped Date & Time field and the grouped Page Number field do not update as expected.
