INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you connect Outlook 2013 to an Exchange Server 2013 server. Outlook creates additional connections to a shared mailbox for users who only have free/busy permissions of the calendar folder of the shared mailbox.
  • Outlook 2013 may crash randomly when you search items in Outlook Address Book. This issue occurs more frequently after a laptop resumes from hibernate.
  • It is not easy to find the Recover Deleted Items button in Outlook 2013.

Note After you install this update, the Recover Deleted Items button is available on the Home tab when you select the Deleted Items folder.
  • Assume that you create a calendar item and save it as an .msg file. When you open the .msg file, you cannot add attachment to it.
  • When you sync a forwarded calendar item by using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol, the In-Reply-To field and the References field may be removed from the email headers.
  • Outlook 2013 may crash on exit.
  • Assume that you create a calendar item in a SharePoint Online calendar, and you set it as an all-day event, and then you export it as an iCalendar (.ics) file. When you import the .ics file into Outlook 2013, and then you change the Microsoft Windows time zone, the date or time value may be incorrect.
  • Outlook 2013 may try to download the OAB.xml from an external URL instead of from an internal URL. Additionally, Outlook may prompt you for your password.
  • Assume that you add a .pst file in your Outlook profile in Outlook 2013. And then you restart Outlook many times. When you expand the folder of the .pst file, you may receive an error message that does not contain helpful information.
  • Outlook items are indexed too frequently.
  • You cannot sign in by using smart card.
  • Fixes a dialog layout issue for both Japanese and Hebrew versions of Outlook 2013.
  • Outlook 2013 may prompt you for credentials on startup after you install a recent update for Outlook.
  • When you log on a large amount of Exchange accounts in Outlook 2013, Outlook may crash.

Note After you install this update, follow the instructions in the registry information section to enable you to log on up to 370000 Exchange accounts.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You use Outlook 2013 in an environment in which the S/MIME encryption is enabled.
    • You start Outlook, and then you click Options on the File tab.
    • In the Outlook Options dialog box, you click Trust Center, click Trusted Center Settings, click E-mail Security, and then you select the check box for the Encrypt contents and attachments for outgoing messages option.
    • You right-click a file from Windows Explorer, select Send to, and then click Mail recipient.
In this scenario, the Encrypt and Sign buttons are not enabled on the Options tab of the new email message.

  • Consider the following scenario:

You try to add a new account in Outlook 2013 by using the following steps:
    1. You click File, click Add Account, enter your first email account, and then you click Next. Then, you cancel the credential prompt.
    2. You click the Back button in the Account Wizard, replace the email address by using your second email address, and then you click Next.
In this scenario, the credential message displays your first email account instead of your second email address.
