"The page you are looking for is currently unavailable" error when you use Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1


Symptoms

When you use the installation of Internet Explorer 11 that is included in Windows 8.1, you may receive the following error message:

This problem occurs when a request is sent to Team Foundation Server 2012 Web Access.

Cause

This problem occurs because of an issue in a recent update for ASP.NET. This issue prevents ASP.NET from correctly parsing the Internet Explorer 11 user agent string when touch is enabled on the client. This is something that TFS tries to perform for every web request.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use Internet Explorer in compatibility mode. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start the installation of Internet Explorer 11 that is included in Windows 8.1.
  2. Press ALT.
  3. Click Tools, and then click Compatibility View Settings.
  4. Add your TFS site to the compatibility list.
