Persistent Chat or Persistent Chat Compliance services fail to start and log EVENT 53505 if you uninstall the Lync Server 2013 (July 2013) Cumulative Updates

Symptoms

Assume that you install the Lync Server 2013 (July 2013) cumulative updates on the Persistent Chat front-end and back-end servers. If you then uninstall the Lync Server 2013 (July 2013) cumulative updates on the Persistent Chat front-end server, the Persistent Chat service or Persistent Chat Compliance service does not start. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Lync Server event logs:


Additionally, the following exception is included with the event:

Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Chat.Server.ServerCommon.Exceptions.StopServerException: Unexpected DB version.
at Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Chat.Server.ServerCommon.TransportServerBase.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Chat.Server.Channel.Server.ChannelServer.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Chat.Server.ServerCommon.MgcServiceBase.startServer()
at Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Chat.Server.ServerCommon.MgcServiceBase.createAndStartServer()

Resolution
