Low image quality when you print a .png or .tiff file on a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computer

Symptoms

Assume that you run a .Net Framework 4-based print application on a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computer. When you print a .png or .tiff file, the image quality is lower than expected.

Cause

This issue occurs because the dots per inch (DPI) correction feature reduces the image quality of the file.
