The lock screen displays incorrectly in Windows 8 on an ultra-high-definition display

Symptoms

After you connect a Windows 8-based computer to an ultra-high-definition display such as a 4K2K monitor, you experience the following issues:
  • The lock screen and the sign-in screen are shown at the same time.
  • The lock screen image is not displayed in full-screen view.

This issue occurs with displays that have resolutions greater than 2560 × 2560.
