INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you use a stylus pen in a slide show in PowerPoint 2013, you have to manually enter ink mode before you draw, write, or highlight text on the slide, and you have to manually exit ink mode before you use touch gestures to interact with the slide.
  • When you run the Send as Attachment function in Excel 2013 to send a spreadsheet as an attachment by using Outlook 2013, Excel 2013 crashes.
  • Assume that you enable the Schedule View function for a shared calendar that contains many categorized items in Outlook 2013. When you scroll horizontally to see the appointments in the shared calendar, the appointments take longer than expected to appear.

Registry information

Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.


After you install the hotfix packages, the new stylus pen behavior is automatically enabled. You can follow these steps to restore the previous behavior of manually turning ink mode on or off:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\Options\
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type StylusAutoInk, and then press Enter.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click StylusAutoInk, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Note If you change the value of the StylusAutoInk registry entry to 1, the new stylus pen behavior is enabled again.
