Symptoms

The Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service crashes on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Mailbox server. Additionally, the following Event ID 4999 is logged in the Application log:

Cause

This issue is caused by a MAPI_E_CORRUPT_DATA error that occurs when the Exchange Server 2010 Mailbox server tries to process a certain property. Then, the Exchange RPC Client Access service crashes because it cannot handle the MAPI_E_CORRUPT_DATA error.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
