Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office 2010. This update provides the latest fixes for Office 2010. Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements.

Consider the following scenario:

You install Office 2010, and then you install Office 2013 Click-to-Run.
You configure Office 2013 as the default program for Office files.
You apply an update to Office 2010.
You double-click an Office file.

In this scenario, the file opens in Office 2010 instead of Office 2013.
