Description of the Office Web Apps Server update: March 12, 2013

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office Web Apps Server. This update provides the latest fixes for Office Web Apps Server. Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements.

Known Issue

This update was released as a critical update on Microsoft Windows Update on March 12, 2013. If the Automatic Update feature was enabled on your computer, this update was installed automatically. If this update was installed, you are experiencing an issue in which Office Web Apps Server crashes. This issue occurs when the Automatic Update feature is enabled on the Office Web Apps Server server.

The Microsoft Windows Update setting for the Automatic Update feature for this update was changed on March 22, 2013. We do not recommended that you enable the Automatic Update feature for Office Web Apps Server. The change to the Windows Update setting enables IT administrators to apply the update by using the steps that are described in the following Microsoft TechNet article:

Issue that this update fixes

Assume that multiple Microsoft Office 2010 users coauthor a file that is stored in Office Web Apps Server. When one user times out, other users cannot remove the user that timed out from an editor table in the stored file.
