NRPT rule is not displayed or is displayed as corrupted after you deploy the rule to a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Consider the following scenario:

• You create a Name Resolution Policy Table (NRPT) rule by using the Group Policy Management Editor snap-in on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012.�
• You use a Group Policy Object to deploy the rule�to a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.�
• You open the rule by using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) on the client computer. �

In this scenario, the NRPT rule is not displayed in the GPMC, or the rule is displayed as corrupted. Additionally, the GPMC crashes.�

This issue is caused by a mismatch between different versions of NRPT. The client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 cannot understand the rule that you created on the computer that is running Windows Server 2012. Therefore, the client computer saves the rule as a corrupted rule.

Hotfix information

The following hotfix package resolves the issue on the Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based client computer. To resolve this issue, install the following hotfix package on Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based client computer.

The following hotfix package does not apply to the computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

The dates and the times for these files on your local computer are displayed in your local time together with your current daylight saving time (DST) bias. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintaining the state of the updated component. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
