FIX: The 3270 client does not correctly translate katakana characters when Japanese code page 932 is used in a Host Integration Server 2010 or 2009 environment

Symptoms

In a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 or Host Integration Server 2009 environment, the Host Integration Server 3270 client does not translate Windows Codepage: 932 (Japanese Shift-JIS) characters correctly.
Note The Windows code page is also known as "Japanese code page 932."
Specifically, you may find instances of the following issues:
  • A single-byte katakana A1 to DF character becomes a period (.) character.
  • A double-byte katakana question mark (?) character on PC: 8380 or on Host: 43A6 becomes a garbled character.
