Why is the Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) update available only from the Microsoft Download Center? 

Microsoft is releasing the update for Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) to the Microsoft Download Center only. Because the user level installation of Lync 2010 Attendee is handled through a Lync session, other distribution methods, such as automatic updating, are not appropriate for this kind of installation scenario.

How do I know whether I have Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) and not Lync 2010 Attendee (admin level install)?





The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6F72D695-5188-4484-B21E-E16CD89C4008}\
 
The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (admin level install) on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system:
