Symptoms

You use Windows Internet Explorer 8 to browse a website that is using Internet Explorer 8 mode. When you browse to another website that is using Internet Explorer 8 Standards mode, the browser tab may crash with an "Access Violation" error. Then, a Recovered tab is opened.

Notes
  • This problem occurs in Windows XP, in Windows Server 2003, in Windows Vista, and in Windows Server 2008. This problem does not occur in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • This problem does not occur when the website is configured for compatibility mode.
  • This problem does not occur in Internet Explorer 9.

To resolve this problem, install this update.
