INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • The existing column names in a PivotTable are not translated when you change the display language in Excel 2010.

Note The new display language is applied to column names only after all existing instances of a given column are removed from and then re-added to a PivotTable. For example, if a PivotTable contains two "Unit Sales" columns, such as "Unit Sales" and "Unit Sales 2", the localized version of "Unit Sales" is displayed only after both columns are removed from and then re-added to the PivotTable.
  • Assume that you have a workbook that contains a link that refers to an external workbook located on a mapped drive. When you open the workbook by using a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path in Excel 2010, the link referring to the external workbook contains the wrong path. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated.

Note Make sure that you update all installations of Excel 2007 with hotfix package 2598032 and all installations of Excel 2010 with hotfix package 2597940 before you try to share files that contain links to UNC paths between computers. If you save a workbook that contains a link to a UNC path in an updated version of Excel, and then you open the workbook in a version of Excel that is not updated, the link refers to the wrong address. For example, if you save a workbook that contains the link \\server\share\main\Book1.xlsx in an updated version of Excel, and then you open the workbook in a version of Excel that is not updated, the link refers to the address \\server\main\Book1.xlsx.
