Cumulative update packages for Microsoft Project Server 2010 contain hotfixes for the Project Server 2010 issues that were fixed since the release of Project Server 2010.

Important notes about the cumulative update package
If you install an earlier build of this hotfix package on a SharePoint server that has .NET 4.0 installed, you cannot synchronize user profiles from AD and LDAP into the SharePoint User Profile Service application database. The user profile synchronization export process fails. Additionally, the System.PlatformNotSupportedException exception shows in Event Viewer.

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Visit Central Administration.
- Click Mange Services on the System Settings section.
- Find User Profile Synchronization Service in the list of services and then click Stop if its status is Started. Click Start and provide the credentials to start the User Profile Synchronization Service as soon as its status is Stopped.

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- 1. Visit Central Administration. Click Manage Services on Server, and then click Stop and Start User Profile Synchronization Service.
- Start Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) user interface from the following location: %PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Synchronization Service\UIShell\miisclient.exe
- Click the Management Agents tab, and then double-click a BDC synchronization connection that has a name that resembles MOSSBDC-* to edit the Management Agents feature.
- Select Define Object Types in the Properties window. The name of the BDC object type that you selected is displayed in a validation message.
- Select Map Object Types in the Properties window. Click the New button, and then add the BDC object type that was displayed in step 4.
- Click the Delete button to delete the user, group, and contact that have the BDC object type, and then click OK.
- If you have more than one BDC synchronization connection, repeat step 3 to step 6 for each BDC synchronization connection.
- Visit Central Administration. Click Manage Services on Server, and then click Stop and Start User Profile Synchronization Service.
