The "Create a Chat Room" command is available for a regular user in the Lync 2010 Group Chat client

Symptoms

You do not have permission to create chat rooms in a Microsoft Lync 2010 Group Chat client. However, the Create a Chat Room command in the Connect menu is available in your Group Chat client. When you click the Create a chat room command, you receive the following error message:

You do not have permission to create a chat room. Please contact an administrator to request permission to create char rooms.

Cause

This issue occurs because only administrators have permission to create chat rooms.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
