The MSExchangeTransport.exe process crashes or stops responding on a Hub Transport server that has Exchange Server 2010 SP1 installed

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on an Exchange Server 2010 Hub Transport server.
  • The Hub Transport server processes an item that contains an invalid charset. For example, the content-type header is set to the following:
    Content-Type: text/html; charset="windows-1252http-equivContent-Type" 
In this scenario, the Microsoft Exchange Transport service (MSExchangeTransport.exe) crashes or stops responding. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
