Event ID 10003 and Event ID 4999 are logged when the EdgeTransport.exe process on an Exchange Server 2010 server crashes

Symptoms

You send email messages to certain Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes. In this situation, the EdgeTransport.exe process on the Exchange Server 2010 server may crash. Additionally, the following events are logged in the Application log:


Note When this issue occurs, you cannot use the Get-Mailbox cmdlet or the Get-MailboxFolderStatistics cmdlet to obtain information about the corrupted mailboxes.

Cause

This issue occurs because certain mailboxes contain invalid entryIDs for default folders. When the invalid entryIDs are detected, an ArgumentException exception occurs in the EdgeTransport.exe process. Additionally, the exception is not handled.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
