Symptoms

The Microsoft Exchange Service Host service (Microsoft.Exchange.ServiceHost.exe) on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 server crashes intermittently. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Cause

This issue occurs because the EventLog.WriteEvent method throws an ArgumentException exception when an event text is larger than 32,766 characters.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
2529939 Description of Update Rollup 3 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1
